The Jeff Ensminger Arrest Incident Was it a legal arrest? Did the arresting deputy get caught choking out a handcuffed suspect? Why is evidence missing in this criminal case? Why didn't the VCSO properly document that alleged accidental destruction of evidence / public record? Was other evidence destroyed, to include possible exculpatory evidence? |

interpret criticism as hostility? Recently, VolusiaExposed posted an article outlining the arrest, by the VCSO, of Ms. Desarea Clark. VolusiaExposed questioned whether Ms. Clark had actually been arrested for questioning the deputy's job performance, rather then actually abusing the county's 911 communication system. We invite you to read and compare both the VCSO arrest report and the animal control officer's case notes. We suspect that you will agree that the two officers' reports are NOT consistent with each other. Notice how Deputy Wood documents that even upon the Animal Control officer's arrival on scene, that Mr. Ensminger was still refusing to turn the dog over. Interestingly, the Animal Control officer failed to indicate any refusal by Mr. Ensminger, to turn over custody of the dog. In our interview with Mr. Ensminger, he stated that upon arrival of the Animal Control officers, he was walking into his home to retrieve the dog for the officers, when Deputy Wood suddenly and silently sprinted into the Ensminger home. Ensminger then alleges that Deputy Wood stuck him from behind, on his head with an unknown object. Shortly thereafter, Deputy Wood was apparently video taped, by the Ensminger home surveillance system, choking Mr. Ensminger while he was already handcuffed. VolusiaExposed.Com requested a copy of Mr. Ensminger's complete video - but due to pending civil litigation, he declined to provide it to VolusiaExposed.Com. Apparently, Deputy Wood did not realize that Mr. Ensminger had a home video surveillance system in operation. Shortly after Mr. Ensminger's arrest, he was transported to the hospital for a medical assessment. It has been confirmed that Deputy Wood took digital photos of Mr. Ensminger while he was in the hospital. However, the VCSO maintains that these photos were accidentally destroyed. It is important to note - the collection, retention and destruction of evidence is a highly documented process in MOST law enforcement agencies. Any failure to document the destruction of evidence (whether accidental or not) is a highly questionable and suspicious event. VolusiaExposed wonders why Deputy Wood's initial charges of Grand Theft and Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer (see below booking information) were eventually dropped to Direct Obstruction of an officer WITHOUT violence and Petit theft (see below Nolle Prosse notification). |
