VOLUSIA COUNTY JAIL SUED FOR ALLEGEDLY FAILING TO PRODUCE TIMELY PUBLIC RECORDS |
March 2, 2013 |
Joel Chandler and his brother, Robert, operate a website titled FOGWATCH.ORG. The FOG in FOGWATCH equates to Florida Open Government. Joel Chandler and his brother are recognized by many to be the Florida Public Record gurus / advocates. We invite you to visit their website, because absent the efforts of people like the Chandler brothers - sites like VolusiaExposed, LakeXposed, BrevardsBestNews, and the like, would not be able to do what we do. As detailed in the below lawsuit, on November 15, 2012, Mr. Joel Chandler attempted to secure public records from the Volusia County Jail. Jail staff apparently attempted to require Mr. Chandler to identify himself and to submit his request for records in written format. Such requirements are in violation of Florida Statutes - Chapter 119. We invite you to read both Mr. Chandler's lawsuit and Volusia County's answer to the suit.
