Arresting Mr. Carlos Manuel
Thrown to the ground - placed in a choke hold - all in response to an alleged county ordinance violation.

As supported by the linked arrest report - on May 4, 2025 - Mr. Carlos Manuel was arrested by the Brevard County Sheriff Office (BCSO) (FLORIDA) for what began as an alleged county ordinance violation (drinking alcohol in public).

Mr. Manuel would additionally be charged with the misdemeanor charge of "resisting arrest withOUT violence. (see linked arrest report - right of page =>).

This publication is left wondering, since Mr. Manuel was NOT resisting his arrest with violence - why did Deputy Matt Rush throw Carlos to the ground and place him in a choke hold?

Better yet - since this matter only involved an ordinance violation - was an arrest even necessary? Could Deputy Rush have issued a written notice to appear for the alleged violation?

From our perspective - this is just another example of Florida cops dealing with minorities over alleged minor violations - whereas the cops routinely appear to step over the line.

Try As You Might - You Just Can't Fix Stupid !

It's only been five (5) years since a Minnesota police officer decided to choke Mr. George Floyd to death - for a minor, non violent violation (Minneapolis, Minnesota)? (see below linked related article).

Similar to the Floyd incident - Mr. Manuel's interactions with the police were also recorded by a member of the public using her cell phone.

Fortunately, Mr. Manuel's interactions with the deputies did not lead to his death - thereby not sparking a similar worldwide series of citizen protests, as did transpired in the Floyd incident.

On May 4th, Brevard County came within a few heart beats of possibly becoming the new epicenter of the exposing of police brutality against minorities.

Sheriff Ivey's Silence ?

In preparation for this article, as well as in fairness to Sheriff Wayne Ivey, this publication sent Ivey an email (click here to read) - in which we questioned Ivey on whether he has any concerns regarding Deputy Rush's choke hold of Mr. Manuel.

We shall advise our readers - should Sheriff Ivey provide a response (don't hold your breath).

State Attorney's Review Pending

The publication would imagine - that upon an honest review by the State Attorney's office - that the charges against Mr. Manuel would be quickly abandoned. Indeed, maybe as was in the Floyd incident - the police should be the ones held criminally responsible for their actions (excessive use of force - failure to protect)

Volusia County Sheriff's Office
The Arrest Of Greg Anglade

Locally, police stupidity is not a unique feature to only the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. In May 2024, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office arrested Mr. Greg Anglade - in an incident where Anglade appears more the crime victim than the criminal suspect.

When sheriff deputies arrived at a local bar - they found Mr. Anglade being held down to the ground by a group of bar patrons. The bar maid openly admitted to choking Anglade, as the patrons held him to the ground.

Mr. Anglade's trial is scheduled next month (June 2025).
