Local State Commission Forwards Four (4) Nominees For A Volusia County Court Judicial Appointment Our Concerns With One Judicial Nominee, Yet Again Identified |

|
On April 7, 2026 - VolusiaExposed.Com attended, and video recorded, the vetting & interview processes of Florida's 7th Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). In as far as the opening within the Volusia County Court - created by the elevation of Judge Katherine Miller to the circuit court level (Volusia, Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns counties), the JNC was tasked with interviewing and vetting eight (8) judicial candidates (see right of page =>). Upon the opening of the hearing - the JNC chairperson announced that judicial candidate Mark Miller had withdrew his application - leaving only seven applicants. Upon the completion of the vetting, interview, and deliberation processes - the JNC forwarded four (4) judicial nominees to Governor Ron DeSantis for his consideration in making the judicial appointment (see lower right of page ==>>). This publication has provided within this article - the video interviews and written applications of all four (4) of the judicial nominees (see bottom of page). Judicial Nominee Robin Hutcheson Last year (March 2025) during an unrelated JNC vetting of judicial candidates (click here to review), we (VolusiaExposed.Com) expressed, within an "open letter" - our concerns regarding judicial candidate Robin Hutcheson. In short, we argued that Hutcheson failed to disclose - within question #54 of her JNC application (click here to review) - that she had in fact had a "complaint" filed against her alleging malpractice (Click here to directly review Question #54 - from the application). We now repeat the same concerns regarding her most recent JNC application. Our primary concern regarding Hutcheson's judicial application - is her inability to report and fully address this malpractice complaint. In August 2019, Mrs. Cathleen White - the spouse of a Port Orange police officer filed a "complaint" against Hutcheson in which she alleged malpractice by Hutcheson. |
|
The abbreviated version of Mrs. White's complaint are her allegations that a Port Orange police captain had taken personal financial advantages against funds that were targeted for the benefit of a disabled police detective injured in a motorcycle accident. Mrs. White expressed her concerns that Assistant State Attorney Robin Hutcheson had failed to properly acknowledge the police captain's criminal culpability.
Mrs. White's complaint also assigned blame (refusing to properly investigate) to the Port Orange PD and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). FDLE would state within a November 8, 2019 memorandum (click here to review) - that FDLE's failure to conduct a full investigation into the police captain's activities were guided by the facts that ASA Hutcheson had "found insufficient evidence to support charges" AND that Hutcheson did not request any follow-up investigation by FDLE investigators. Eventually (May 2022) FDLE did arrest the police captain for "grand theft" and "exploitation of a disable adult" (click here to review). Our concerns regarding Hutcheson are NOT recent developments - in truth, this publication has expressed them several times before - please see some of our below linked earlier articles. |

During Hutcheson's April 7, 2026 interview in front of the JNC - she was questioned regarding our concerns (see below - Hutcheson's JNC interview video). Ironically, after reviewing Hutcheson's April 7, 2026 JNC interview video, it may not be her failure to report Mrs. White's malpractice allegations that will bring her ethics into question - it may, in the end, be the statements she made to the JNC commissioners regarding her alleged lack of knowledge of White's complaint - that becomes her undoing. She may have to experience the same hard lesson of President Nixon - for it was not the Watergate break-in that ended his presidency - rather, it was the misrepresentations and cover-ups of that break-in. Judicial candidates are accountable to Florida Judicial Canons, in the particular Canon 7 (click here to read) Judicial Nominating Commissioners are accountable to Florida Statutes and the Florida Constitution. While some of the JNC commissioners may find false comfort in the argument (see below JNC interview video) - that since Hutcheson was acting as an assistant state attorney - she did not factually have a "client" - therefore, there could be no "malpractice". We would counter - that Hutcheson's "client" were the citizens of Florida's Seventh Judicial Circuit. This publication opines - that Volusia County will be better served with any one of the other three judicial nominees being Governor DeSantis' judicial appointee. Should Hutcheson still desire to become a judge - then she should run a campaign, and seek the support of her "clients" - the voters of Volusia County. Should our readers wish to express their thoughts to the governor regarding this pending judicial appointment, please feel free to do so at this email link (timothy.glass@eog.myflorida.com) Stand by to stand by ..... we shall post the governor's appointment once he makes it. |
