Recuse His Office From The MacDonald Shooting Investigation?
On a July 2012 evening the wife of Flagler Beach Police Officer Robert MacDonald ended up with a bullet in her head.
Kathy MacDonald did not die from her head wound. She currently resides in a local rehabilitation center, slowly recovering from her injuries. Larizza has found it necessary in the past to recuse his office.
In October 2011, Larizza requested that Governor Scott reassign the confidential criminal investigation against St. John's County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy Banks to another State Attorney. Governor Scott granted the reassignment request. Deputy Jeremy Banks was a serious "person of interest" in the 2010 shooting death of his girlfriend, Michelle OConnell. The controversy regarding the OConnell death investigation has strained the working relationship of the FDLE and the St. John's County Sheriff Department. Further, several large media outlets have covered this very suspicious death. Fischer is the spouse of a Flagler County School Board member. In November 2011, a 76-year-old Palm Coast resident died after Fischer struck her with her car.
