VolusiaExposed.Com is working on obtaining the Smith lawsuit documents and will post them when they become available.
Apparently these new sex allegations are against ex-officer Curt Geber (he resigned in 2007, shortly after the sex allegations were initially made). It is of interest, that in 2003, Geber was alleged to have used racial slurs. A beach patrol trainee alleged that Geber and another officer was using racial slurs when referring to black college students. Please refer to the below media article that highlights these particular allegations
County Spokesman Dave Byron stated that the county will vigorously defend itself and the individuals named - Dave, hasn't the county fired some of these individuals for their alleged activities? How is the county going to defend them effectively?
Here are the media article(s) on the filing of the Drury federal lawsuit.
Hey Mr. Byron, did Volusia County do a better investigation into this sex scandal than it did in the jail deaths of Jack Nelson or Tracey Veira? It appears that jail staff falsified reports, and for some reason, the Volusia County Sheriff Department's Major Case investigative unit did not follow up on these falsifications. Why not? Surely, Volusia County Division of Corrections does not tolerate such a culture, right? Ironically, both the Division of Corrections and Beach Safety are members of the same Volusia County Department of Public Protection.
Read our other web page on this sex scandal. While Chief Bussinger was busy down loading over 12,000 porn images, some of his staff, apparently was busying engaging in sex with underage victims.
Now, with this new accusation from Ms. Smith we have at least four ex-Beach Patrol officers that have been apparently connected with engaging in sex with underage girls. Only two ex-officers have been arrested over the 2008 Drury incidents - but in the now alleged 2007 Smith incident, the county or State Attorney made no arrest(s). Why?
We ask you to review the below web pages. Decide for yourself whether there is not only a "culture of coerced sex" within the Volusia County Beach Patrol (as alleged in this Beach Patrol Federal lawsuits) - but whether a bigger culture of corruption exist within the entire Volusia County Department of Public Protection and maybe extends to the entire county government. That this culture of corruption not only encourages illegal activities by sworn law enforcement officers, but also insulates these rogue officers from criminal prosecution.
Did correctional officers falsify reports regarding jail inmate deaths? (pay particular attention to the Inmate Veira and Inmate Comeau deaths) Did the Volusia County Sheriff Department "cover up" for these correctional officers?
Did the Volusia County Department of Public Protection fail to criminally charge a rogue correctional officer that was bringing in illegal contraband to jail inmates (for profit), because he was the son of a jail captain?
Did a Volusia County correctional officer work for over 20 years as a convicted felon? Why didn't Volusia County officials catch this sooner? What does this indicate about the effectiveness of their background checks or investigative techniques? Why wasn't he charged with fraud instead of being allowed a full retirement package at taxpayer's expense?
Why can two Volusia County Fire Fighters steal narcotics from the county, by having this drugs fraudulently logged as destroyed, but not be criminally charged by the county or the State Attorney? Apparently the county's position is that since the men were not going to use or sell the drugs there was no criminal activity. Really? How about theft, and is not the mere possession of these drugs for no valid reason a crime?
Does the Volusia County Sheriff Department and Volusia County Legal have a direct conflcit of interest? Is apparent conflict the reason why the VCSO is reluctant in criminally charging these Volusia County employees. In short, do criminal charges expose the county to civil liability?
