Regarding The May 29, 2016 VCSO Involved Shooting Of Donald E. Brown III

AS WRITTEN BY THE VCSO PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER
"As has been previously reported, the deputies who initiated the traffic stop were aware that the suspect had just been in possession of a firearm while in commission of an armed robbery, with the victims reporting that the suspect pointed a gun at them and threatened to shoot them if they didn’t comply. In response to multiple media requests, the following records related to Sunday’s deputy-involved shooting are being released:

-A video of the encounter with Donald Edward Brown III that led up to Sunday’s shooting. The video was taken by a motorist who observed and filmed the entire encounter. The video depicts Brown acting agitated and non-compliant with the deputies and, at one point, concealing his right arm behind his back. The video then shows Brown rapidly swinging his right arm in front of him in a manner consistent with the wielding of a deadly weapon, resulting in the deputies opening fire to defend themselves.
