In 2008, then candidate, R.J. Larizza had heavy police union support for his bid to un-seat then State Attorney, John Tanner.

State Attorney John Tanner had ran a foul of the local police unions, due to his heavily publicized corruption investigations, by the State Attorney's office, of both the Flagler Beach police and Flagler County Jail.

Mr. Tanner's daughter, Lisa Tanner had been arrested by the Flagler Beach police, and there were allegations of mistreatment, filed by Ms. Tanner against both agencies. The Tanner vs. Flagler Beach scandal made national headlines.

The Daytona Beach News Journal ran a series of articles regarding the allegations and investigation attached to the Lisa Tanner allegations. Please refer to the below link for more detailed information attached to that particular scandal.

However, the 2012 political landscape has change for Mr. Larizza. Apparently, he will only be receiving the endorsement of the Coastal Police Benevolent Association in his bid for re-election.

Both the Daytona Beach Police Officers Association and the Volusia Deputies Association have decided to endorse former Volusia County Judge Stasia Warren, in her bid to unseat Mr. Larizza, as the Seventh Judicial Circuit's State Attorney.

Recently, the Daytona Beach News Journal published an article that highlights the police unions endorsements of the State Attorney candidates. VolusiaExposed invites our readers to review this very informative News Journal article.

According to Mr. Larizza's official website, his office has a commitment “To pursue justice, without fear, favor, reward or the promise thereof."

THE DEPUTY DUGGAN SCANDAL

VolusiaExposed.Com questions whether Mr. Larizza has lived up to the above commitment. We wonder whether Mr. Larizza is actively whoring out Lady Justice, in order, to gain political endorsements, to include the endorsement of the Coastal PBA.

In our opinion, Mr. Larizza allowed his office to be blackmailed by dismissing charge(s) against a felony suspect. In the Volusia County Deputy Duggan scandal, Deputy Duggan's inappropriate behavior with a female felony suspect, caused the State Attorney to dismiss charge(s) against the suspect, in order to spare embarrassment to the Volusia County Sheriff Department (VCSO). Such rational for the dismissal of charge(s) is clearly supported within the VCSO documentation.

While an argument could be made that the State Attorney had little choice in dropping the charges against Ms. Fackler, we wonder why the State Attorney did not criminally charge Deputy Duggan for his actions? At the very least, the deputy's actions could be seen as violations of tampering with a witness, and obstruction of justice.

Then again, if Deputy Duggan had been criminal charged, this in and of itself, would have brought embarrassment to the sheriff department. Was the decision not to charge Deputy Duggan, a favor from one politician to another politician?

VolusiaExposed.Com is unaware if Sheriff Johnson has endorsed ANY political candidates - but we shall maintain a "wait and see" approach.

Interestingly, according to Mr. Larriza's re-election website, he maintains a political banner, which states that he is a "prosecutor, not a politician".

THE ORMOND BEACH PD EVIDENCE ROOM SCANDAL

Earlier this year (2012), the public became aware of serious problems at the Ormond Beach police department. The Ormond Beach PD had lost their law enforcement accreditation, due to concerns about how their evidence room was being maintained.

VolusiaExposed.Com ran an article regarding the Ormond Beach PD Evidence Room Scandal.

The Ormond Beach PD evidence room scandal

Within the above article, we presented both supportive documents, as well as local media accounts outlining the serious problems attached to the OBPD evidence room.

In short, some property, to include money was missing from the evidence room. A maintenance man was criminally charged, while an OBPD evidence technician and the OBPD evidence room custodian were under suspicion of possible criminal conduct attached to the scandal.

The Evidence Room Custodian was Shannon Champion, the spouse of Coastal PBA, President Vince Champion.

Public records also clearly support, that Mr. Vince Champion is a reserve investigator within Mr. Larizza's State Attorney's office. He is also a retired officer from the Ormond Beach Police Department.

Vince Champion's law enforcment employment history

While records indicate that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is "investigating" the evidence room situation, we anticipate that no additional criminal charges will be filed or prosecuted by Mr. Larizza's office.

As in the VCSO Deputy Duggan scandal, we anticipate that Mr. Larizza will not wish to embarrass either the OBPD, or Mr. Vince Champion, one of his (Larizza) best political endorsers (Coastal PBA).

It is of interest, that shortly after the Ormond Beach PD evidence room scandal came to light (February-March 2012), the Coastal PBA made the maximum political contribution to Mr. Larizza's re-election campaign ($500.00 on 3-12-12).

FINAL THOUGHTS

Is the Larizza administration pimping out Lady Justice, in exchange for political endorsements? Has the Larizza administration failed to live up to their commitment "to pursue justice, without fear, favor, reward or the promise thereof"?

Obviously, each and every voter will have to come to his / her own conclusions.
