DEMOCRATIC VETERANS CAUCUS OF FLORIDA
ENDORSES DEPUTY WENDELL BRADFORD FOR
VOLUSIA COUNTY SHERIFF

Press Release from Candidate Wendell Bradford

September 11, 2012

DEPUTY SHERIFF RECOGNIZED

This afternoon a spokesman for the Democratic Veterans Caucus of Florida announced that Seminole County Deputy Sheriff Wendell Bradford has been recognized as a friend and a supporter of the Florida veterans. As a resident of Volusia County for more than (19) nineteen years, and as a 6-year military veteran, Bradford seeks the office of Volusia County Sheriff. The DVCF, a state-wide recognized organization presented Mr. Bradford with its prestigious Endorsement Logo.

According to the Veterans Caucus representative, “This is the first year that the DVCF offers its Endorsement Logo expressing our belief that Candidate Bradford has demonstrated that he understands national defense and veterans issues in addition to the price that we veterans have paid for America’s continuing freedom.”

Having spent more than 27 years in a law enforcement uniform, Wendell Bradford has been continuously involved in protecting the community. He notes that every 45 seconds, a senior citizen is victimized in the United States, while Volusia County cut its staff of the Crimes Against Seniors Unit. Mr. Bradford promises to mete out discipline fairly, eliminate cronyism by promoting people based on qualifications rather than friendship, and foster teamwork. He would allow people to speak their minds without fear of retribution and he will improve communications between top VCSO Officials and those below them. He encourages the growth of all his personnel and encourages everyone to follow their dreams.

According to Mr. Bradford, “Florida’s first gang census showed that we had 1,403 documented gangs with 56,200 members known operating throughout our state, and we must take a hard-stand against these violent members and their associates.” He further cites a notable rise in domestic violence in our communities “and we must take a strong stand and demonstrate zero tolerance”.

“Our county has been suffering under the same “good-old-boys” cronyism in leadership for more than four decades and it is time to bring serious leadership to our Sheriff’s Department,” he concluded.

"The Florida Veterans Caucus believes that the combination of Mr. Bradford's military and civilian experience shows that he is the type of candidate every Florida County needs," said the DVCF spokesman, "and we are honored to endorse Mr. Bradford for Volusia County Sheriff".
