A VIOLATION OF THE VOLUSIA COUNTY CHARTER?

APPARENTLY, THE ANSWER IS - YES, IT WAS A VIOLATION !

Due to our questioning of Volusia County Attorney Dan Eckert, Mr. Dwight Lewis resigned his position as a commissioner on the Volusia County Growth Commission.

Daytona Beach News Journal article - Commissioner Dwight Lewis resigns to comply with Volusia County Charter.

VolusiaExposed.Com invites our readers to review our email communications with Volusia County Attorney, Dan Eckert.

On June 14, 2012 - we sent the above attached email to Mr. Eckert, outlining our concerns regarding Mr. Lewis' assignment to both the Personnel Board and as a commissioner of the Growth Management Commission.

Mr. Eckert responded on June 18, 2012. In his response, he clearly indicated his opinion, that he saw no problems with Mr. Lewis' dual county assignments.

VolusiaExposed.Com immediately (June 18) responded back to Mr. Eckert. In our response, we expressed our disagreement with Mr. Eckert's position that no violations of the County Charter existed.

On June 29, 2012, and after VolusiaExposed.Com had advised Mr. Eckert of our intentions to publish his email communications within a VX article. Mr. Eckert retracted his initial 6-18-12 position, with the above attached email. Mr. Eckert also advised VX, that Mr. Lewis had submitted his resignation as a Volusia Growth Mangement Commissioner.

So, where does this leave any Volusia County employees that appealed to the Volusia County Personnel Board, whereas Mr. Lewis was the deciding vote? Deputy Scott Flesch and Beach Patrol Captain Rich Gardner are two cases that VX is immediately aware of, whereas these employees might not have received an unbiased decision. Should these boards be re-heard in the name of justice? You decide !
