May 15, 2023 |
UPDATE: Governor DeSantis Appoints Two To Local Judicial Positions. Anne Marie Gennusa to Putnam County court judge (click here to read appointment letter). Rose Marie Preddy to Circuit Court judge (click here to read appointment letter). |
On February 13 & 14, 2023, VolusiaExposed.Com attended, and video recorded, the vetting / interview process of Florida's 7th Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). The 7th JNC interviewed twenty-two (22) qualified candidates in order to fill two judicial positions - one on the circuit court bench, and another on the Putnam county court bench. VolusiaExposed wishes to extend our thanks to all of the 7th JNC members , they were all very professional and approachable. The JNC narrowed the list of judicial candidates to ten (10) qualified judicial nominees, four (4) for the county court position, and six (6) for the circuit court position. These nominees' names will be forwarded to Governor DeSantis for his final selection and appointment. (see right of web page) ---> Based on what was heard, and what was discussed during the interview process, all of the nominees are qualified to serve as Putnam's and the circuit's newest judges. We invite our readers to review the video interviews of the nominees, as well as the nominees' redacted applications (see below videos). |
Former Volusia County Judge Steven N. deLaroche interviewed on February 14, 2023 for the circuit court seat. see video -->
In 2006 - while under investigation by the Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission (JNC) for "fixing" traffic tickets for family and friends (click here to read JQC formal charges) - Judge deLaroche resigned his judicial seat. In 2014 - Mr. deLaroche ran a political campaign - in an attempt to resecure a judicial seat within the Seventh (7th) Judicial Circuit. |
Steve deLaroche JNC interview |
During that 2014 campaign - this publication received a letter for Attorney John J. Upchurch (click here to review letter) in which Mr. Upchurch articulates his concerns regarding Mr. deLaroche's past concerns with the JQC.
In response to our (VolusiaExposed.Com) publication of Mr. Upchurch's letter - Mr. deLaroche sent the following written and published reply (click here to review reply) This publication OPINES that while the JQC charges appears to support five (5) separate incidents of "fixing" traffic tickets - Mr. deLaroche ONLY wishes to acknowledge the one incident - in which he "fixed" a ticket for his father-in-law. (see Mr. deLaroche's above 2014 written statement & his 2023 verbal statement to the JNC) It is of significance - that during his most recent interview with the JNC - one of of JNC commissioners read to Mr. deLaroche a letter from the JQC that not only memorialized the additional incidents of ticket fixing - it also provided an advisement - that should Mr. deLaroche return to the bench - that the JQC could still proceed with disciplinary sanctions against him regarding those 2006 charges. (see above video - around minute eight (8) of Mr. deLaroche's JNC interview) |
Assistant Public Defender Allison Hughes also interviewed with the JNC. see video --> In a recent article, this publication expressed our belief - that Mrs. Hughes has an on-going conflict of interest regarding her supervisory role within the DeLand office of the Public Defender's Office - given her husband's (Lieutenant Timothy Hughes) role of being in charge of the criminal investigative division (CID) of the DeLand police department. We (VolusiaExposed.Com) further questioned whether Mrs. Hughes' assignment to defend a fifteen (15) year-old girl charged with several counts of attempted murder of Volusia County sheriff deputies - created, at the very least - the appearance of a conflict of interest - and possibly a "Quid Pro Quo" understanding between herself and the State Attorney's Office / JNC?
For the "particulars" of our concerns regarding Mrs. Hughes - we invite you to read our below linked February 22, 2023 article. DARK JUSTICE WITHIN THE 7TH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT The Criminal Prosecution Of Nicole Jackson-Maldonado Neither - Mr. deLaroche's, or Mrs. Hughes' applications were forwarded to the governor's office. |
