According to a January 29, 2018 Volusia County Sheriff's Office arrest report Volusia County Fire Lieutenant Stephen Szabo was arrested while on duty connected to an alleged domestic battery incident with his girlfriend.

Lt. Szabo was charged with felony domestic battery with strangulation.

VolusiaExposed.Com expresses NO OPINION on the veracity of the criminal charge filed against Lt. Szabo.

Our concern is that according to an email received from county administration - Lt. Szabo is on "PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE".

We hold the belief (OUR OPINION) that since Lt. Szabo has been charged with a crime (felony) that he should be out on a suspension withOUT pay - as is defined in Volusia County Merit Rules 86-455(c)(1)c (see page 1 - PINK highlighted area --->).

According to the Clerk of the Court's website - Mr. Szabo has a pending court date of March 15, 2018.
