Within our March 15, 2018 article we (VolusiaExposed.Com) expressed our concerns - wondering whether the Volusia County Court system could fairly process Volusia County Fire Lt. Stephen Szabo through the local criminal justice system - due to his mother's employment within the local court system.

While Szabo was arrested in late January 2018 under a felony charge regarding a domestic disturbance incident - his charge was dropped to a misdemeanor in March 2018.

Earlier this month (April 2018) - Szabo took a plea bargain that netted him two (2) days time served, a restitution order, and twelve (12) months of probation. County Judge Belle Schumann also withheld adjudication of guilt against Mr. Szabo.

VolusiaExposed.Com expresses the OPINION that Szabo's criminal case was processed within expected guidelines - with no obvious special treatment being noted.

County employment records indicate that Szabo was terminated from his position as a Volusia County fire lieutenant on March 7, 2018

County officials have advised VolusiaExposed.Com that Szabo is appealing his termination.
