Well, it can be officially "memorialized" on this website that the Commissioner of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Gerald Bailey is aware of both our website and of our concerns.
The below link is an email that we sent to Mark Perez, the Chief Investigator for the FDLE Office of Executive Investigations, in which we request that he review and investigate our concerns in reference to the Volusia County Department of Public Protection. This particular email was also Carbon Copied to several other individuals to include Commissioner Bailey.
As our reader will see, it appears that Commissioner Bailey thought he was forwarding a message to Chief Investigator "Mark" Perez to call him tomorrow. It appears that Commissioner Bailey accidentally replied to VolusiaExposed.Com instead. Apparently, Commissioner Bailey wants to discuss VolusiaExposed.Com's concerns with Chief Perez.
Whether, Commissioner Bailey by accident or on purpose sent VolusiaExposed.Com his documented desire to discuss this matter with Chief Perez is un-important. What is important is that Commissioner Bailey now has documented being aware of the concerns surrounding the Volusia County Department of Public Protection.
Should FDLE investigate - yes they should have, along time ago. But for whatever reason(s) they refused to do such. We here at VolusiaExposed.Com believe that had FDLE investigated our concerns involving the Volusia County Jail deaths of Inmates Nelson and Wadsworth, that September 2009 death of Inmate Tracy Viera could have been avoided.
In a recent email from Chief Investigator Mark Perez to VolusiaExposed.Com, Mr. Perez states that there is no "criminal predicate" to investigate our concerns. Therefore, we are left wondering, if FDLE now "finds" a criminal predicate to investigate our concerns, are they (FDLE) admitting that such a criminal predicate existed all along OR will they (FDLE) just conveniently finding a criminal predicate in order to conduct a "faux" investigation to "cover their behinds"?
What many of our readers are not aware of, is that FDLE has an alleged history of conducting (or refusing to conduct) investigations in service to an agenda or political goal, rather than a "criminal predicate". The below media article is just one of many examples of this alleged history of the FDLE.
Therefore, based on Chief Investigator Perez's email and FDLE recent questionable history - we believe it would be appropriate for FDLE to request that the US Justice Department investigate the concerns surrounding the Volusia County Department of Public Protection. Such would be consistent with FDLE being removed as the investigative authority in the 2006 Bay County Boot Camp death of Inmate Martin Anderson.
But then again, any investigation is still better than no investigation, is it not?
