Did a Volusia County Assistant Attorney return some of the guns used in Deltona Murder-Suicide?
Updated June 10, 2010
“You can't fix stupid”
Apparently, according to media reports, some of the guns used in the recent Deltona murder-suicide had been recently returned to suspect Johnnie Burke by Volusia County officials. Apparently the weapons HAD been confiscated by the Volusia County Sheriff Department in a drug raid. But because the Volusia County Attorney office could not confirm the felony record of suspect Johnnie Burke, his weapons were apparently returned to him.
Below are some attached media article(s) on this matter - VolusiaExposed.Com suggests that all of our readers carefully review these media article(s).
We here at VolusiaExposed.Com find the county's action (or lack of action) unforgivable. However, VolusiaExposed.Com is not surprised that Volusia County Government failed to properly investigate and handle the Burke matter. Such failures by Volusia County official have become standard operating procedures within Volusia County Government.
Here is just a FEW examples of Volusia County officials failure to properly investigate.
Apparently, in 1986, the Volusia Beach Patrol hired an employee that in 2000 was discovered to be an illegal alien. Was he fired? No, he was not, even though he had lied on his law enforcement application and Florida law requires the law enforcement applicant to be an United States citizen. This officer was only fired in 2007 after apparently sexually harassing several females and threatening to shoot a .40 caliber bullet in the back of his wife's head. (According to a March 2007 Daytona Beach News Journal Article). VolusiaExposed.Com makes particular note that the unknown Daytona Beach Serial Killer apparently employs that same M.O. - in the particular, a .40 caliber bullet to the back of the head.
Please refer to our developing account of the illegal alien Beach Patrol Officer, VolusiaExposed.Com has a pending public records request in to Volusia County Officials. Once we receive these records, we shall update this web page.
Apparently from 1989 to 2009 a Volusia County Correctional officer was a convicted felon from a neighboring county. Now, some of us might feel some sympathy for the Volusia County Assistant Attorney who did not locate the 30 year out of state, felony record of murder-suicide suspect Johnnie Burke. But Volusia County officials apparently can not even discover that one of their corrections officers is a felon from a neighboring county. WOW ! -- And to add insult to injury, when this officer was discovered to be a felon, he was paid all of his leave time (at taxpayer's expense) and allow to draw his Florida State Retirement. Then let's not forget the 2008 Volusia County Fire Service Sexual Harassment investigation. The county taxpayer's spent tens of thousands of dollars attempting to find out whom failed to properly report the alleged sexual harassment of a female fire fighter. Eventually, the internal investigator concluded that two Fire Captains (Moak and Whalen)were the persons responsible for failing to properly refer the sexual harassment allegations up the chain of command. Both Moak and Whalen were fired. However, both were given their jobs back after Moak's appeal case was heard at a Volusia County Personal Board and it was submitted that the internal investigator had been made aware of the sexual harassment allegations at least six months prior to Captains Moak's or Whalen's involvement.
And finally with all that is going on in the Volusia County Beach Patrol (alleged sex by officer with minors, officers lying under oath, a deputy chief downloading nearly 12,000 porn pictures on a county computer, etc, etc,.) Can we, the public of Volusia County really feel confident that Volusia County officials can properly handle and investigate the alleged statutory rapes within that division?
