Volusia County experiences a payroll SNAFU.

Current employees were paid a different year's salary - retired employees also were paid

Volusia County officials initially blamed the SNAFU on a outside company, but when VolusiaExposed requested the name of the company - Volusia County officials then admitted that the SNAFU was caused by an internal error.

In September 2011, Volusia County government experienced a glitch in their payroll system. Instead of September 2011 payroll being paid, another year's payroll was direct deposited into both current and retired employee's private banking accounts.

Upon, VolusiaExposed.Com becoming aware of this glitch - we contacted Volusia County official, requesting confirmation and records on the incident.

The county did confirm the incident - but blamed the situation on an error by an outside company that processes their payroll.

Mr. Byron then responded that his initial response was incorrect, that the problem was an internal county IT department error.

Retiring County employees might wish to consider rescinding their banking authorizations with the county upon their retirement, as the long arm of Volusia Government reached into both current and former employee's bank accounts twice - once to deposit the incorrect payroll, and again to withdraw the money.
