Jail Terminates Maintenance Man Over Alleged Thefts

Recently - VolusiaExposed.Com became aware of the dismissal of long time jail maintenance man Andy Cerio.

According to the attached Volusia County Sheriff Office's (VCSO) investigative report - the Volusia County jail became aware of a security breach of their jail last May - and while investigating this security breach - became aware of alleged thefts of jail property.

The VCSO investigative report indicates that no criminal charges have been filed thus far. According to Mr. Cerio's dismissal letter - his dismissal appears to be founded due to Cerio providing alleged contradictive statements to jail officials.

VolusiaExposed.Com requested the internal investigation into the jail's self admitted security breach. In an email response from Captain David Vanis - VolusiaExposed.Com was advised that no internal investigative report was "generated".

There is an old adage in law enforcement that states - "if it isn't written - it didn't happen". Therefore - it's our opinion that absent an investigative report - it can be safely concluded that the jail did not conduct an internal investigation into this security breach.

VolusiaExposed.Com is left to ponder why the jail would not have conducted an internal investigation into any security breach?

Absent an internal jail investigation - this incident has a cover-up smell to it - leaving us to suspect that any internal investigation would have exposed more than the jail administration was (is) willing to admit.

We invite you to read the attached documents and to form your own opinions and conclusions.
