Brevard County Sheriff Mentioned In Federal Bribery Indictment Local Charities Connected To Sheriff Alleged To Have Accepted Monies From Company Accused Of Trying To Bribe Government Officials |
March 21, 2019 |
VolusiaExposed.Com has obtained a copy (see right of page) of a recently released federal bribery indictment against Donald Donagher, Jr., and his corporation, Penn Credit. The twenty-three (23) page indictment, alleges that Mr. Donagher, 67 of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida targeted several Clerks of the Court within Florida and Illinois, including Brevard, Orange, and St. John's counties, attempting to bribe them into contracting with his debt collections company. (see page 2 of indictment) Due to the fact that these Clerks receive federal funding, their offices fall within the jurisdiction of federal authorities, such as the FBI. According to the indictment "Clerk D" (identified as the Brevard Clerk of Court (Scott Ellis) on page 2 of the indictment) refused Mr. Donagher's offers of campaign contributions, a subsidized picnic for the Clerk's office, etc, etc. (see pages 9-10, 13-15 of indictment for details - further records indicate that during this time frame - Scott Ellis was, and still is, the Brevard County Clerk of Court) The indictment alleges that in December 2014, Donagher reached out to the Brevard County sheriff (records indicate that in December 2014 - the Brevard County sheriff was Sheriff Robert Wayne Ivey) asking the sheriff to call the Brevard County Clerk of Court to tell him that Donagher was a good guy, |
and that he, Donagher, didn't want to lose his contract with the Brevard County Clerk of the Court.
VolusiaExposed.Com has confirmed that Sheriff Ivey made the behested phone call to Mr. Scott Ellis, the Brevard Clerk of the Court. Sheriff Ivey's phone call did not persuade Mr. Ellis, and the Brevard County Clerk's Office ended their business relationship with Penn Credit on or about December 31, 2014. (see page 14 of indictment) According to the indictment (see page 14 of the indictment) , right around the same time that Donagher was asking Sheriff Ivey to reach out to Mr. Ellis, Donagher was writing "checks totaling approximately $15,500, made out to Brevard County charities", to include the Brevard County Animal Services, which is overseen by Sheriff Ivey. According to the indictment (see pages 14-15 of the indictment), Donagher sent Mr. Ellis an email promising several financial contributions to Brevard charities, if the Clerk's office would simply renew it's contract with his company. This is a developing situation - so standby to standby... there is surely more to come of this.... We look forward to your comments on this situation. Drop us a line to let us know what you think.
